SBCTC has a state-of-the-art business lab equipped with Office 2007, Office 2007 Publisher, Expressions Web, and Adobe Suite 4. The lab also is equipped with a Polyvision White Board. Students are encouraged to become members of the student organization FBLA. SBCTC incorporates the West Virginia Standards for 21st Century Learning which includes 21st Century Content Standards and 21st Century Learning Skills and Technology Tools.

Business Computer Applications I:

This area of study is designed to provide students with the knowledge to understand and apply integrated software to business applications. The students will review keyboarding and achieve basic proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, database applications, and the Internet. Teacher will provide each student with real world learning opportunities and instruction related to business and technology occupations.
Desktop Publishing:

This area of study is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop proficiency in using desktop publishing software to create a variety of printed publications. Students will incorporate journalistic principles in design and layout of print and Web publications including integration of text and graphics and use of sophisticated hardware and software to develop and create quality materials for business-related tasks. Students will analyze the information and the audience and combine appropriate text, graphics, and design to communicate the desired message effectively. Planning and design principles are used to analyze and organize information, set up a design structure, and select or create appropriate visuals. Instructional strategies may include computer/technology applications, teacher demonstrations, collaborative instruction, interdisciplinary and/or culminating projects, problem-solving and critical thinking activities, simulations and project-based learning activities. Students will utilize problem-solving techniques and participate in hands-on activities to develop an understanding of course concepts. Teacher will provide each student with real world learning opportunities and instruction related to business, e-business, marketing, multi-media and technology occupations.
Digital Imaging/Multimedia I:
WVEIS 1431
This area of study is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills needed in E-business and related occupations. Major instructional concepts included in this area of study are methods of producing images through hands-on activities and experiences which will include: operating a digital camera, using imaging software, using drawing software, creating simple animations, and manipulating video images. Teachers will provide each student with real world learning opportunities and instruction related to business, marketing, e-business, multimedia and technology occupations.
Web Page Publishing:
WVEIS 1455
This course introduces students to the basic Web page design concepts and provides practice in creating Web sites. Students will explore various applications in Web page design through hands-on activities and experiences, which may include using Web page development software, creating page layouts, adding images and frames, creating elements and components, creating tables, managing files, publishing to the Internet, creating hyperlinks, organizing tasks, and using codes (markup languages). Teachers will provide each student with real world learning opportunities and instruction related to business, e-business, multimedia, technology and Web page occupations.
Introduction to Business and Marketing:

This area of study provides students with the knowledge and skills needed in marketing, business, and related occupations. The program area provides individuals with the principles, practices, and concepts involved in business activities, which direct the transfer of goods and the acquisition of services from producer to the consumer. Students also gain the professional or skilled knowledge necessary in beginning a career in the marketing, business, and management fields. Students will utilize problem-solving techniques and participate in hands-on activities to develop an understanding of course concepts. Teacher will provide each student with real world learning opportunities and instruction related to selection, development, and maintenance of individual business and marketing education programs.
Accounting Principles I:
WVEIS 1401
This area of study is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed in Accounting Principles I. This course prepares the student to understand the basic principles, concepts, and practices of the accounting cycle. Journalizing, posting, and analyzing of financial statements as well as banking and payroll procedures are included. The importance of ethics and confidentiality, as well as an introduction to careers and types of business ownership are incorporated. Students will utilize problem-solving techniques and participate in hands-on activities to develop an understanding of course concepts. Teacher will provide each student with real world learning opportunities and instruction related to accounting occupations.
Accounting Principles II:
WVEIS 1403
This course provides students the opportunity to develop advanced knowledge of accounting procedures and techniques utilizing both manual and computer-based accounting. There is a strong emphasis on problem solving, analysis, and financial decision-making. Students study the advanced principles, concepts and practices of the accounting cycle and partnerships, corporations, cost accounting, inventory, and tax accounting. Students will utilize problem-solving techniques and participate in hands-on activities to develop an understanding of course concepts. Teacher will provide each student with real world learning opportunities and instruction related to accounting occupations.
